Education is the foundation on which a society is built. Realizing this some
learned persons of Katapali and other neighboring villages decided to establish
a Degree College around 1991.Their sincere efforts bore fruit and in the year
1994, Katapali Degree College Katapali was established with 64 seats and 4
optional subjects viz. Education, History, Pol.Science, and Sanskrit and 2
Compulsory subjects viz. English and M.I.L (O). The college was recognized by
H.E. Dept. Odisha and affiliated to Sambalpur University, Jyoti Vihar Burla. In
the beginning it started its function in M.E School building and a Hall of +2
college. From the beginning the college had a Girls Hostel to encourage girls
education in the locality. Under the able guidance of the Governing Body
dedicated support of the people of the village and service of the teaching and
non-teaching staff college progressed smoothly towards its aim of providing
quality education to the students of the area. In the year 2000 college building
shifted to the place situated in the middle of Katapali-Bardol road. A
significant achievement came in the life of the college when its sanctioned
strength increased from 64 seats to 128 and Hons. were opened in Odia and
Political Science in 2009. In the same year a new building was inaugurated
solely for the +3 college. Subsequently all the optional subjects were converted
into Hons. Subjects. Now the college is functioning in its own land and
building. The college in its long journey of 30 years has produced thousands of
GraduatesStudents are rendering their valuable service to the society. The
college is committed and will remain committed in its aim of quality education
to the students.
